After the cold and snow of the past winter, we are slowly returning to the farming adventures that span spring to fall. Most of our layer hens survived the freezing temperatures and daily egg production keeps us well stocked--so you may find us bringing a few dozen to the Greentown market! (Or contact us to see what we can work out for you!)
The Middle Daughter will be raising meat birds again this year, so if you are interested in certified non-GMO and heavy grass-fed broilers, let us know (sooner is better than later for ordering purposes)!
The ground is still rather chilly to plant, but the planning is underway. We look forward to trying a new soil building routine this year! More on that later in the season.
Third Generation Farm will again be working the Farmer's Markets in both Peru and Greentown. According to our standards, our market tables will only sell organic and non-GMO products. Organic and non-GMO is important to us because we view food as medicine, in addition to just being a thing to enjoy! (This is doubly important to our family because each of us suffer from the effects of chronic Lyme disease.) GMO’s and chemicals put a toxic burden on the body that makes the immune system work harder. Local foods grown with “organic/pesticide free” principles do not have added toxins that require the body to work extra hard to get rid of. It also encourages stronger immune systems; which battle everything from colds to cancer.
This is why we are 100% non-GMO. We will not sell any product that is GMO. If we will not eat it, we will not sell it.
The Peru Market begins next Friday (May 1st). Greentown is of yet undetermined (as far as this writer knows), so stay tuned!
