I hope you are planning on coming out to the farmers market today. Again, it looks like it is going to be a very nice day for it.
It is hard to believe it is the middle of August already. Where has the summer gone? Overall, it has not been a good gardening season with these cooler temperatures. The tomatoes are still struggling to ripen but we will have some.

We will also have green beans. These will be gone in a week or two so enjoy them while you can!
I worked in my carrot bed this week and we will have carrots. Because of the cooler weather the carrots are really good this year. Not sure what to do with carrots? Try putting them in a roasting pan with some chopped up potatoes and then drizzle them with olive or sesame oil, add some crushed garlic (or garlic powder), and herbs of your choice (I like parsley). Stir all of this up and put in the oven for 30 minutes. Yum, this is good!
We have a little okra—this is a hot weather plant and we are thankful for the small amount we have been getting…but if you want okra you will have to hurry because we don’t have a lot.
The peppers too are hot weather plants and they just have not taken off this year due to the cooler temps, but we do have a small assortment of peppers.
I made two fresh batches of jam last night. Another batch of peach jam...and I made something new: Blueberry Jam!
It seems like I am forgetting something...so you will just have to come on out and see what I forgot and what the other vendors have!
